Approx. 5 years ago my wife Ursula and I started looking for a new lifestyle, more suitable to our age. We looked around at that time, with special focus on some major considerations i.e. Location, Safety & Security, suitable recreational activities and freedom of choice. The Palmview Village won hands down. We entered in September 2004 and we have never regretted making this important decision. After all, we had moved into a brand new low maintenance, quality home in a very pleasant position. We are close to most major shopping centres, the local Bowls Club at North Mackay, all medical facilities, including the Mater Hospital.

Social get-togethers are available for all residents to enjoy. You can mix with our own ‘village people’, your own friends or any prospective residents in our well appointed Community centre. The choice of taking part in the many activities or not is offered to us. Ursula loves her Tai Chi classes and not only receives the benefit of exercise but the kindheartedness and friendship she receives from all the other participants. Harry (that’s me) likes our
beautiful swimming pool in summer, and is fond of the Village’s free Library books available all year round. It is our honest opinion that for anyone contemplating this pleasant lifestyle, there is no better choice than to become a new resident in our beautiful Palmview Village.

My name is Dulcie Broadhurst and I moved to Palmview Village 3 years ago.  My husband had passed away after a long illness and I realised that the effort of caring for my home and gardens would be too much for me to look after even then. So then I decided to look around at other alternatives and found that Palmview village fitted the bill.

I have three daughters and a son. My girls were very happy with my choice but my son who is a builder wanted to build me a home on a small block and that he would look after all the maintenance and gardening for me. I told him that that would defeat the purpose of my moving. I didn’t want my family to have to worry about those things, they had their own homes to look after and their own busy lives to live. I didn’t want to be in my big home surrounded by neighbours who were at work or busy with small families.

I wanted to be surrounded by like-minded people and while I was still very active, able to join in along with the great company of other residents, the many and varied activities provided by the village. Another great plus for me was the locality of the village, very central for my family to visit. Of course my family is very happy, including my son that I have such a lovely home and that I feel comfortable and safe in our village. My life goes on just as normal with family & friends coming and going but I don’t have the worry of large gardens and maintenance but I am still able to have my beautiful front garden to plan and potter around in as I like.
